Backtracker
The Backtracker Rail Pass allows unlimited travel on the XPT and The Xplorer rail services and connecting coach services to over 360 destinations including Melbourne and Brisbane. The Backtracker Rail Pass also provides access to the capital cities of Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra.
The Backtracker Rail Pass is valid from the first day of travel for either 14 days, 1, 3 or 6 months for consecutive travel in any direction.
At least AUD$40 of Sydney CityRail services are included with the Backtracker Rail Pass providing access to the Blue Mountains and Bondi Beach.

Travel conditions
The Backtracker offers flexibility across all participating rail companies and is available for travel over 15 or 22 days in a six month period from the first day of travel.
- The Backtracker Rail Pass is available for unlimited travel in economy seating on CountryLink services throughout New South Wales, between Sydney and Melbourne, and Sydney and Brisbane.
- Use of the pass must begin within six months of the date of issue and be completed within the validity period from the first validity date.
- A travel "day" is a period of 24 hours, or less, from the scheduled departure time of a service. Eg, an overnight trip 2100/0900 is regarded as one "day"
- Travel on Sydney CityRail services is allowed in conjunction with a connecting CountryLink service.
- Travel is not available on Brisbane City Train services and Melbourne metropolitan service.
- The Backtracker Rail pass is only available to foreign passport holders. Clients should be advised to carry their passports with them at all times as railway staff may wish to check it against the passport numbers endorsed on the pass.

Cancellations / Refunds
Unused passes receive a full refund, but once the pass has been validated (first leg travelled) or lost, no refund is issued.
