Rail Australia is an alliance between Australia's major tourist-oriented rail operators.

CountryLink

CountryLink provides long distance passenger rail services, supported by an extensive coach network. Our fleet of XPT and XPLORER trains and road coaches provide services to more than 360 destinations throughout New South Wales and to interstate destinations including Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne.

With a destination to suit every taste, passengers can travel south to Canberra, the nation's capital and on through Southern New South Wales to Victoria and Melbourne. Head west to the wide-open spaces of Broken Hill and the Outback, or go north to the beautiful beaches and warmth of the sub-topics.

For the independent traveller, CountryLink offers a choice of 2 economy fare based rail passes: The East Coast Discovery and Backtracker, with travelling options on main interstate rail routes and regional destinations.

Great Southern Rail

Great Southern Railway is in the tourism business over and above being a rail transport operator. Great Southern Railway is customer focussed and committed to growth of tourism in Australia. Transwa is the Western Australian Government's regional public transport operator. Transwa operates one of Australia's most modern fleet of trains and road coaches to more than 275 destinations in the southern half of Western Australia. Transwa fleet includes its flagship, the high speed Prospector train, the new high speed AvonLink/MerredinLink train, the Australind train and 22 state-of-the-art Scania road coaches.
